Born in the town Galatina in Lecce, Italian singer-songwriter Alessandra Amoroso (August 12, 1986) first rose to prominence as the winner of the renowned talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi in 2009. She became interested in music from a very early age, participating in several local competitions before auditioning for Amici. She made the cut in 2009 with a rendition of Alicia Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You,” and went on to win the contest by a wide margin.
