French jazz singer Elisabeth Kontomanou has been on the international scene
since the 1980s, when her group Conversation won the La Défense Jazz Festival
competition. Born in Lyon, France, on November 30, 1961, Kontomanou moved to New
York City in the ‘90s and embarked on a solo career, which kicked off with her
self-titled debut album in 1993. The albums Embrace and Midnight Sun followed,
and she was awarded Vocal Artist of the Year in 2006 at the Victoires du Jazz
