Graham Hamilton Lyle, born on March 11, 1944, in Bellshill, Scotland, began his music career in the late 1950s, performing in local bands before teaming up with Benny Gallagher. In 1968, the duo signed with Apple Records and wrote for artists like Mary Hopkin. By 1970, they joined McGuinness Flint, where they co-wrote hits like "When I'm Dead and Gone".
