John McLaughlin is a British jazz, jazz fusion, progressive and psychedelic rock
guitarist who was born into a musical family and studied music as a child. He
had stints playing with Alexis Korner, Georgie Fame and Brian Auger. John
McLaughlin joined the Graham Bond Quartet - featuring Jack Bruce and Ginger
Baker - in the early 1960s. He went on to collaborate with artists such as Tony
Williams, Jimi Hendrix and Miles Davis. In 1971, he founded the Mahavishnu
