Kings of Convenience
Norwegian singer/songwriters Eirik Glambek Bøe and Erlend Øye formed the
harmony-heavy indie folk duo Kings of Convenience in 1999. Both musicians were
born in 1975 and raised in Bergen, and they first performed together in the
short-lived band Skog. Three years after releasing Skog's 1996 debut EP, Tom
Tids Tale, they reformed as Kings of Convenience and spent the summer playing
festivals across Europe. The duo's debut album, Quiet Is the New Loud, was
released January 2001, featuring production from Coldplay's go-to collaborator
