Taking throbbing bass lines, electro beats and a DIY punk approach, DFA Records
boss James Murphy created a dirty disco sound that produced a soundtrack for the
2000s hipster New York and influenced a new wave of producers intent on making
rock music danceable. LCD Soundsystem was born when Murphy struck up a
friendship with Les Savy Fav's drummer Pat Mahoney while producing them and the
