Formed in 1973, Showaddywaddy was the result of the merger of two Leicester
bands, Choise and Golden Hammers, making them an eight-piece band with an
unusual line-up including two singers, two drummers and two bassists. They first
came to prominence when they took part in the British TV show New Faces,
finishing second in the final, which led to the release of their debut single
"Hey Rock & Roll", which reached number two in the UK charts in 1974. It was the
