In 1994, hip-hop-minded R&B girl group Total – a.k.a. Kima Raynor, Keisha Spive
and Pamela Long – sung the soulful hook on what would become one of hip-hop's
most iconic songs, "Juicy" by the Notorious B.I.G. Catapulted into the
spotlight, the trio – who had formed in Planfield, New Jersey earlier that year
– were snapped up by Bad Boy Records CEO Sean "Puffy" Combs for their debut
album. The group scored high with their debut single, "Can't You See?,"
featuring the Notorious B.I.G, with the track peaking at Number 13 on the
