Valery Gergiev is a well-regarded Russian conductor of classical music and opera
who has led many of the world's great orchestras and recorded albums of mostly
Russian composers with 17 Grammy Award nominations to his name. He was named
principal conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra in 2005 and chief conductor
of the Munich Philharmonic in 2015. His 2017 album 'Rimsky-Korsakov: The Golden
Cockerel' was nominated for a Grammy Award as Best Opera Recording in the 2018
awards.
